Located in the middle of the steep cliffs at the eastern shores of Kurima Island, approximately 200 meters from the mountain artillery bunker of Kurima, was a shelter for the local residents. The concrete opening to the shelter is narrow, at 90 centimeters in height and 50 centimeters in width, and has a steep incline. The interior is wide and can shelter approximately 200 people. Except for the opening, the whole shelter is a natural limestone cave, and it was also referred to as “Sen-nin Gama,” or one-thousand-person shelter.
