Water Well at Minuzuma Remains

This well is located approximately 1.5km southeast of the Hisamatsu Community Center. A wide area at this location is the site of a settlement that was called the Inuzuma, where we can find Miyako-style earthenware, Chinese pottery and other relics. Also nearby the well are what has been said to be the sites of Higashi-Bunmya, and Nishi-Bunmya.
The well is a cirucular well, dug 1m in diameter and approximately 8m deep, presently. The walls around the surround are piled stones intended to prevent soil from going in the well. Acording to lore, up until around the middle of the 14th century, this whole area was home to settlements like Nishiminu, Minu, Minuzuma and others. At that time the Yonahabaru Clan, headed by Sataunbundo, was conquering various settlements, anhilating men and women of all ages in just one day.
It is believed that this well was dug by the people who once lived in Minuzuma to secure their source of water for every day life, but after the disappearance of the settlement after an attack in the middle of the 14th century, the well remains as an important relic of this bygone period.
