【Designated by the City:Natural Monument (Flora)】Plant Community in Ubutaki Park
It is a plant community stretching over Ubutaki Park and the eastern side of the Nobarudake (108.6m).
The flora includes tall trees such as Yabunikkei (Japanese cinnamon), Mokutachibana, Hamainubiwa, Shobennoki, and Kurotsugu. There are also short trees such as Akatetsu and Shimayamahihatsu. At the forest floor of Akatetsu and other plants, there grow Yaburan (lily turf) and young trees of Yabunikkei (Japanese cinnamon).
The eastern slope of the Nobarudake forms a landscape like a limestone escarpment with dwarf forests. The height of trees in the tall tree layers on the eastern side is 3 to 4 meters, and the vegetation coverage is approximately 75%. This is a major vegetation zone along the tectonic line that runs from north to south of Miyako Island.
