【Designated by the City:Historic Site】Ana-ga

Ana-ga

The history book, Yoseikyuki (1727) states, “a cave river in the east and the year of digging remains unknown.” Being located at the east of the guard station in Miyaguni Village, the well was apparently called “Aga-ga (East Well) by officials back then.”
The well served as a precious source of water to support the life of the residents in Miyaguni before the water system was widely put in place.
The site was always crowded with people coming to draw water, to do the laundry or to bathe.
