【war-related site】Navy Naka Airfield Combat Operations Room Ruins

This is the only combat operations room site built in an airfield still existing in Okinawa prefecture. It was built as a commanding post as it was assumed that the ground battle was going to be intensified; however, as the war ended without seeing ground battle on Miyako Island, this facility was never used as a commanding post. Records show that this operations room was used by the Yamauchi Platoon of the 18th Independent Machine Gun Battalion.
