【Designated by the City：Historic Site】Koujin Migagama Utaki Sacred Site

There is an article titled, “A case of Fumon Koujin, a daughter of Kubaka-azu.” in a history book, “Miyakojima Kiji Shitsugi.” Tamagusuku, a Ryukyuan, fell in love with the only daughter of Kubaka-azu, and the two eventually had a baby boy. When Tamagusuku returned home from Yaeyama, he accidentally heard his wife saying to the baby who was crying in the night, “Son of an exile, why are you crying? Stop crying now, stop crying.” Tamagusuku was upset, and said to her, “I am a trader, not an exile.” Then, he snatched the boy, and made his way back to Ryukyu. Koujin grieved and resented over what had suddenly happened. Oddly enough, a tsunami hit the island and washed away the villages. Koujin’s body was buried in the east of Kawamitsu Village.

People in Ueno call the site “Koujin Migagama” and they believe that it is the remains of Migagama’s residence.
