【Designated by the City:Historic Site】Kanzato-ga

Kanzato-ga

Kanzato is considered to refer to the place where gods gather. This well is deeply revered as a place where gods meet and discuss things.
In around 1430, the area was a basin thickly covered with plume grass and others. People dug the area as they sometimes saw an ox pawing the spot, and found a cave spring. This is a legend that tells the origin of the well. Since the discovery, it has greatly influenced the formation and the development of the community as the only source of spring water in the region.

The water is still used for rituals as the “water of the originating island”, and the site is a place of worship for the people.
